ID clincher - Prionyx parkeri - Female
Tucson, Pima Community College West Campus, Pima County, Arizona, USA
March 28, 2009
I severely cropped one of the other linked images so you can see the length of the palps, short, antenna-like mouthparts visible here behind her glossa ("tongue"). They indicate that she is 'not' of the species Prionyx thomae, which has only one easily visible set of palps. That leaves two other choices: P. canadensis, which is not common here, but can be abundant farther north, and P. parkeri.
