Hylochares Laporte 1834
Numbers
a single species in our area, ~7 spp. total
Size
4.5-10.0 mm
Identification
Dark brown to black species with lateral impressions and a median groove on the pronotum.
Range
limited to a narrow band across approximately eight states in the central part of e US(1)
Season
late May through early Aug(1)
Food
Larvae have been found in willows, elms and beech(1)
