Lateral view. I suspect this is the same species of Ptenothrix as:

They both have the same white spots on the lateral surface (obscured by the flash in this pic, but visible in the other views), and they both have very similar, very distinctive patterns on their backs (best seen in the dorsal view). I know you said these are tough, Frans, but with those distinctive white spots on the sides and recognizable pattern on the dorsal surface...

The pictures are excellent but unfortunately the literature on US Ptenothrix is confusing. I cannot IDy the specimen with currently available keys. At collembola.org I have grouped all unidentifiable specimens and I have tentatively classified your specimen as Ptenothrix sp.5.
