Ephemerella aurivillii
It is. A half-grown one. Reasonably common in cold-water fast streams mainly in the mountains.

Back off to genus...
until Donald makes a determination. I didn't consider aurivilli, but that might be a better possibility for this one.

Does Donald have this one?
Based on the smallish dorsal abdominal spines and the lack of light areas near the middle of the abdomen (though both are variable), I'm inclined toward invaria rather than subvaria.

even an E. auri*villii. E. sub*varia doesn't look correct, but I am lying in the bushes until I see the specimen.
