Congratulations!!!! Myathropa florea male!
But please look at this thread:
http://bugguide.net/node/view/21487/bgimage
But, you'll have to catch one or more specimens and send them to an American specialist to confirm the presence of this invasive European species in North America!
Please do so!!
Greetings,
Gerard

This is the text
Dear Alice,
Yes, I know it's not easy to take away these nice little flies out of nature for the purpose of men.
As you can see the first record dated from 2005, and just now you saw it again!
I will give you two names to whom you maybe can send an email (with the pictures) about this find, and ask them whether they would like to have a voucher specimen to really establish the identity (by a publication in a magazine) of the species in the USA..
It can be very important to have proof of a voucher specimen in a American museum, especially when the invasive insect would turn out to be a pest in America. It could wipe out native species by competition for the same food or other resources. It would be important to keep track of i's spreading for the future.
If they would like to have a specimen, you can also ask them how to catch, kill and send it to them!
1 Dr. F. Christian Thompson
2 Dr. Martin Hauser
They both live in the US and work on syrphid flies.
Please tell me about the results of your enquiry! :-))
Greetings,
Gerard Pennards
PS I took away there emailadress (here on Bugguide) for safety reasons

But it bounced on a Delivery Status Notification (Failure)
This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification. Delivery to the following recipients failed.
So did you get it or not?
