Diceroprocta viridifascia - Male Female
Kure Beach, Brunswick County, North Carolina, USA
Diceroprocta viridifascia
Brunswick Co., Kure Beach/Fort Fisher (20 July 1997)
Lat. ~34 (0-30 ft elev.)

This is a very common species along the NC coast. The casts or shells often litter the dunes among the sea oats. The call is a distinctive ..Zit..Zit..Zit..Zit..Zit..Zit.. heard during the heat of the day into the early evening.

These are fast alert cicadas and frequent maritime forests and dune scrub. They are also common around salt marshes but seem to prefer higher drier ground.
