Explanation of Names
Pyrausta subsequalis (Guenée, 1854) includes as a subspecies 5060.2 Pyrausta plagalis and includes as a synonym 5076.1 Pyrausta cespitalis of authors not (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775). Pyrausta insequalis (Guenée, 1854) is listed as a senior synonym by Munroe (1995). Brian Scholtens (pers. comm., 1/12/17) advises that subsequalis has priority.

(1) reported the species is found throughout North America. Alaska and Yukon to Newfoundland and south to Gulf States and central California.

subsequalis as the accepted name in Munroe (1995a)
