Aphid

The cornicles protruding from its abdomen (a.k.a. "tail-pipes sticking out of its butt") mean it can only be an aphid. The wings mean it's an adult. Beyond that, even experts say they can't make positive IDs from photos- so I won't even try.

If you know the plant it's on, that might help- but even then, the chances of further ID are very slim.

Thanks Chuck.. for the info to better recognize an aphid.
Strange looking Aphid - it looks like his head is glued on.

I think it was on one of the curcubits, but don't recall which one.

Winged form

The winged forms fool most of us; it isn't just the wings but the body shape and coloration. It is nice when they are side by side with the wingless ones (different generations).
