Some type of ant in a wash - Acromyrmex versicolor

Some type of ant in a wash - Acromyrmex versicolor
Tucson, Pima County, Arizona, USA
Size: 10 mm

"leafcutter" ant.
Species is Acromyrmex versicolor, a very common ant despised by locals because it defoliates plants. The leaves are taken deep into the nest, chewed into a mulch, and used to breed a fungus, much like the "true" leafcutters in the genus Atta.
