A female Agabus
large genus and mostly difficult to get further without examination of males; will have see whether the keys work for this one.

Best guess: Agabus aeruginosus species group
probably either A. aeruginosus or A. punctatus; both are quite similar in colour and appearance but A. aeruginosus would be slightly smaller than your specimen (max length= 7 mm). There is a 3rd species however (A. xyztrus), that has been recently described, which is very similar to A. aeruginosus but has a much more restricted range (New Jersey is the northernmost limit) and differs slightly in size, colour, and other technical characteristics.
I would probably go with A. punctatus based on the MCZ type specimen, though I'm still not 100% sure.

I was thinking of leaving it
I was thinking of leaving it on the genus page for now, unless you think a group page should be made. The UNH site lists 12 species of Agabus in New England, and out of the 3 you mentioned, only punctatus is on the list.
