Midge - Orthocladius - male

Midge - Orthocladius - Male
Myles Standish State Forest, Plymouth County, Massachusetts, USA
April 12, 2009
Size: 4 mm
It didn't want to fly away. The antennae suggest it was recently emerged.

This is Orthocladius in the old sense, before a century of taxonomic splitters rendered generic ID very difficult. It is likely O. obumbratus Johannsen.
