Quasi-wasp - Dolerus

Quasi-wasp - Dolerus
Newton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA
April 13, 2009
Size: 10? mm
Another Dolerus? I'm posting a series of closeups that I hope will have enough for a species ID.

Images of this individual: tag all

Dolerus, very much so
[unless They split it into a dozen genera sometimes last week]

Species?
Can species be determined? If not, what characters are needed? I have a variety of odd little bits of the critter in focus; my close shots had very little depth of field but there's a claw here, a bristle there, and so on visible.

Several pictures have been IDed as D. nitens on general appearance alone, and I'm suspicious of that.
