Explanation of Names

Belvosia borealis Aldrich, 1928

Identification

Black wings and calypters, white cheeks, more than one pair of median margins on T1+2 and T3. Other species in the United States and Canada have at most a single pair of median marginals on these tergites, except for B. pollinosa which has darker cheeks.
