forewing yellow to orange; reniform spot (and sometimes orbicular spot) shaped like dumbbell; AM and PM lines sinuous, and mirror images of each other; ST line jagged; median area often darker than basal and distal area

British Columbia to Nova Scotia, south to Florida, west to Arkansas and Wisconsin
Season
adults fly from August to October
Food
larvae feed on leaves of black cherry, chokecherry, maple
Remarks
geographic range seems unusual: occurs coast-to-coast across southern Canada, but appears to be restricted to the eastern half of United States
