Weird bugs in my Geiger - Physonota calochroma

Size: less than 1/2 inch
My daughter saw these bugs eating up my Geiger this morning. My son took the photos. Should I be concerned? I have small children that play in the area surrounding the tree. My tree looks like the leaves are made of lace, except not in an attractive way. HELP!
