Specific epithet possibly for the ancient city Grynea (sometimes Gryneia, Gryneion, Grynium), one of the twelve Aelian cities, notable for their worship of Apollo.
Adult - FW greenish gray, brownish along inner margin below black median dash. Fine broken black lines. HW yellow/orange and black lines. Sometimes the black border has a narrow break near the anal angle.
Range
Maine to S. Ontario to Florida, west to South Dakota and Texas.
Season
June to August.
Food
Larvae recorded on apple, plum, pear, hawthorn, willow and oak. (9)
