Large Ichneumon - Megarhyssa macrurus - female

Large Ichneumon - Megarhyssa macrurus - Female
Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee, USA
April 24, 2009
Size: 4"
This young lady is truly long and slender, and one of the largest I have ever encountered. Ovipositor and all, she taped out at 4"! I got lost looking at the myriad types in the guide, so Eric, if you would, what is it? Oh, and -V-, I told Brenda not to be excited if she got home and found this seemingly menacing critter still bouncing around the kitchen ceiling.
