Peltodytes beetle attacking damselfly larva - Peltodytes

Peltodytes beetle attacking damselfly larva - Peltodytes
Lewes, Catfish County, Delaware, USA
April 25, 2009
This shot shows the damselfly's leg injuries. I did not observe the attacks that caused these injuries. I believe the injuries were incurred while I was keeping the bug in a Pyrex plate containing water and plant matter. There was another damselfly in the plate, as well as two crawling water beetles (Peltodytes species). Of the four bugs, this was the only one that underwent any injury, at least as far as I could tell.
