Leptoglossus occidentalis? - Leptoglossus occidentalis

Leptoglossus occidentalis? - Leptoglossus occidentalis
Brookfield, Trumbull County, Ohio, USA
August 4, 2005
Size: appx. 1 in.
Found this on my kitchen table. Flew away pretty quickly. I was able to capture it and chill it for the photos. I believe it is Leptoglossus occidentalis. Strangely enough, though, I have no coniferous trees around my house. I guess he is misplaced. Anyone?

Western conifer seed bug.
You are correct, this is Leptoglossus occidentalis. I think this species has spread widely due to the popularity of ornamental pines. Look for them on the green cones where they feed. They can fly far and wide, so no surprise it ended up at your house:-)
