Soldier Fly Larva

Soldier Fly Larva
The Arboretum, Guelph (N43º32'33"W080º12'49"), Wellington, Ontario, Canada
April 18, 2009
Size: 28 mm
Scooped from pond edge. Based on size and appearance, a guess would be Stratiomys (compare with the 1.8 mm Hydraenid walking on its head capsule). I'll see what emerges.

Moved from Larvae.

Stratiomyidae: probably Odontomyia or Stratiomys
Stratiomyidae: probably Odontomyia or Stratiomys...but the last abdominal segment looks short for Stratiomys
