Large aquatic beetle (Water Scavenger Beetle?), need help with ID. Attracted to light, lake less than 50 yards distant.

Hydrophilus ovatus
based on the features seen on the ventral shot. Nice pics of an impressive-looking water beetle!

Most likely Hydrophilus
But there is another similar sized genus in the east called Dibolocelus- a shot of the underside will help confirm at least genus

Just learnt that Dibolocelus and Hydrophilus are synonyms. Moving to genus page.
