No dusty, weather-beaten encelia today. We're at nicely tended Sherman Gardens, where the elite syrphids meet to sup. Who's that over there?

(Written 5-6-09: There's a good chance this is Ocyptamus diversifasciatus. The only one IDed so far is on an old post from Hartmut, but Harsi submitted another for ID recently.)

Ahhh you got me confused for a bit...the reflections... I first thought it is diversifasciatus, but it is Allograpta obliqua... the coloration of the legs and the yellow stripe on the side of the thorax gave it away....but now I am sure..

I went back to reshoot, but all I could find were A. obliqua. (Just kidding. I found nothing.)

At first, I thought the striping was from flash artifacts. Hope to see this one again.
