P. hirticula (Knoch)
is also hairy and also occurs in Louisiana. Examination of genitalia is often the only way to be sure with Phyllophaga.

 
I tried to dissect out the genitalia
and as best I can tell (though I'm not 100%) the subgenital plates look very much like the image you posted for P. crenulata, not like the images on this page.

Also, the same site claims that P. hirsuta is "easily recognizable" (right!) by the evenly spaced rows of elytral setae. I'm not sure if this specimen has that, but it certainly has plenty of densely packed short elytral setae.

 
If the genitalia
look like crenulata then that's what it is. In your dorsal shot, the long erect setae do look to be in rows.
