Caterpillar ID? - Autographa precationis

Caterpillar ID? - Autographa precationis
Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, USA
May 2, 2009
Size: 1 inch
I found this inch-long green caterpillar in the lawn when I was digging dandelions. At one point during the picture-taking session he spewed up a drop of green bile-like liquid. He appeared to be uninjured and I put him back where I found him. Any ideas as to species?

Not positive, but it looks like two pair of abdominal prolegs
so we would suggest Plusiinae, maybe Bilobed Looper, Megalographa biloba??

Yes
I think you're right. It looks like the image sent in by Simone Ross in 2006. Thanks for the ID.
