Dicaelus purpuratus splendidus
with elytra colored coppery red (image here) or metallic green versus
D. p. purpuratus
with elytra colored purple or blue. Color is the primary feature for separating these two forms which are best considered geographical races of the same species according to authority George Ball (1959). The
splendidus
form is relatively westerly which includes KS.
