Catocala? or is this the same geometrid

We stopped at a pond to look for frogs and instead found a number of these Catocala-like caterpillars, camouflaged amid the lichens on the bark of the musclewood trees, Carpinus sp.
It's so well camouflaged we can't count the prolegs. Now we're wondering if it's the same as the earlier geometrid.
