Identification
forewing lines are darker (black) than ground color, which is dark red; PM line wavy [Rustic Quaker lacks all of these characters]
Range
Saskatchewan to Nova Scotia, south to Florida, west to Texas
Season
adults fly from May to September
Food
larvae have been reared on plantain and have been found feeding on the flowers of goldenrod and leaves of boxelder

The forewing lines in Rustic Quaker (Orthodes majuscula) are paler than the ground color, the PM line is sharply-angled but otherwise straight, and the overall color is grayish or brownish rather than red
