Red wasp - braconid? - Vipio - female

Red wasp - braconid? - Vipio - Female
Allentown, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, USA
August 6, 2005
Size: ~10mm
Small thing, elegant flight. Looked somewhat like a few other images in the guide, tentatively identified as braconid wasps. I know this image doesn't offer much to go by, but any direction would be helpful. I assume it's a female?
Thanks!

Braconinae, possibly Vipio -- Paul Marsh det.
Moved tentatively from Braconid Wasps.

Quite right! Female Braconidae
Although there are no real characteristics visible, I agree on a female (because of the long ovipositor) braconid wasp!
Greetings,
Gerard Pennards
