Id request - Anahita punctulata
Pearl River County, Mississippi, USA
May 4, 2009
Size: 7mm
At first glance I thought this was a wolf spider which I found under outside light, but after looking at the eye
arrangement I'm not sure. It kinda reminds me of an earlier image that I took which was in question by Lynette and
Jeff.

Anahita punctulata (Ctenidae)
Based on the description in Spiders of North America (Ubick, et al), pg 84, I think this is Anahita punctulata. The size, geographic location, lack of calamistrum, numerous black spots on legs and abodomen, general habitus and carapace patterns all match, and the epigyne looks right, too.

Good find!

Thanks for the ID,
a new genus & species for the guide!

Thanks John and Lynette for Id

Thanks to Jeff who commented on the thumbnail

Ctenidae!?
Great find. They eye arrangement matches Ctenidae on the link here.

I think the spider in thumbnail is the same species as
this and I think so(Ctenidae) for id. Waited long enough to find this one. I am going to add a better eye shot.

Nice
I'll be using that for the eye arrangement article.

Ctenidae
I think that's a good match. :)

Interesting arrangement. It
Interesting arrangement. It reminds me of Dolomedes, but the outer eyes on the bottom row seem tiny and very close to the top row. Never seen that before if I recall. I wonder if this is a species of Dolomedes I've not see or if the eyes didn't develop properly.

Strange, I thought maybe the eyes didn't develop
properly to, look at this image, and see what You think.
