Fly - Angioneura Fly - Angioneura

from Dr. Terry Whitworth:
"I checked the photo against some of my specimens. In the photo the arista appears bare. Angioneura is the only North American calliphorid with this character so I checked against the species in that genus. This photo is superficially close to A. obscura. This species is rare and I would be surprised if it is actually that species. Without the specimen, I can say no more."

Moved from Oestroidea.

Or flavescens
This would better fit Angioneura flavescens than obscura based on the yellow legs, but Downes considered them two members of an unresolved species complex and it doesn't make sense to try to force this fly into either name.

Moved
Moved from Calyptratae.

Calyptratae, Calliphoridae or Tachinidae
This is probably a tachinid, but could be a calliphorid in the Melanomya group.

from Dr. Terry Whitworth:
"like Norm said, it could be Melanomya. I gather you have only the photo, no specimen, is that right? I could check through my Melanomya and compare, though I don't have time right now"

can't be C-stylus -- not a dolichopodid
a calyptrate, perhaps a tachinid
