4-spotted Checkered Beetle - Pelonides quadrinotata - male

4-spotted Checkered Beetle - Pelonides quadrinotata - Male
Sand Springs, Osage County, Oklahoma, USA
May 7, 2009
Size: 5mm (3/16")
This looks almost exactly like this one .
However, this one has a red thorax and head with black markings while the other is completely black. Also the antennae on this seem much larger than the other. Do these vary that much or are these different species?

Please help with ID.
