Very odd beetle - Cyrtophorus verrucosus

Very odd beetle - Cyrtophorus verrucosus
Perry County, Pennsylvania, USA
May 9, 2009
Size: 7 mm
It crashed into my leg while I was sitting outside. At first It moved like an ant, so I thought it was a winged carpenter ant. When I got a better look I thought it was a velvet ant, and when I got these photos I realized it was a beetle.

Any ideas? Looks like it might be a type of long horned...
