Scoliid ? -
Pygodasis quadrimaculata
Lady Lake, Lake County, Florida, USA

These guys are pretty big, over an inch, but I didn't get to measure it. I get alot of these in June and July, not many now. I was guessing Scoliid due to markings, but any help is appreciated.

Yes.
Congratulations on the ID:-) There are so many scoliid species in the southeast that I am not familiar with. Sorry I can't give you a genus or species.

Compare NC wasp, Campsomeris quadrimaculata?
This looks similar to the large wasp Lynette in North Carolina thinks might be
Campsomeris quadrimaculata
:
A tough group. Maybe we should make some non-taxonomic categories for them, such as "cf. Campsomeris quadrimaculata" for the real big (20-30 mm) wasps with four big spots on the abdomen. There are some other possible categories for smaller Scoliids.
