I have no idea what this might be.

Peltophorus adustus (Fall)
Charles O'Brien det. His comment: "breeds in the fruiting heads of Agave, and is the least often collected in the genus"
====================================================================
so i was wrong about subfamily [would never make such a horrible mistake had i seen its head -- how pathetic does that sound?]
great find!!! =v=

Moved from Ceutorhynchinae.

Thank You
BTW - re Stephen's comments, the funny thing about the angle is that I accidently rotated the photo. Not sure how I managed to do it. I will fix it. Sorry about that.

Steve --
I must have rotated the photo -- i do it routinely to orient insects in certain ways more amenable for image recognition, esp. when i submit pix to experts for ID.

a fine cetorhynchine
we'll bring it home soon

Interesting!
Such a funny angle (head down) but I'm thinking this is an Anthribid, a fungus weevil.
