syrphid fly - Orthonevra nitida

syrphid fly - Orthonevra nitida
Ackworth, Warren County, Iowa, USA
May 10, 2009
Size: ~8 mm
Partially hidden and immobile between petals of dandelion in lawn adjacent to old field. It did not emerge more fully and I tired of waiting, so this is only photo I have except for close-up showing antennae somewhat more clearly (second photo). Interesting eye pattern. Fly?
