tiny reddish wasp - Cynipidae ?? - Eucoilinae
Baiting Hollow, Suffolk County, New York, USA
May 10, 2009
Size: 1-2 mm - guess
Found near primarily oak, beech, hickory and cherry.

Moved
Moved from Eucoilidae.

Eucoilid...
The rounded elevation on the dorsal surface of the scutellum, the 13-segmented antennae, and the second abdominal tergite appearing longer than the third, point to a female cynipid wasp in the family Eucoilidae. These are not gall makers, but are pupal parasitoids of flies. Excellent picture. Good work, Lynn.
