Red-lined Carrion Beetle - Necrodes surinamensis - Female
Hwy 55 and Sedwick, Durham County, North Carolina, USA
August 1, 2005
Size: 21 mm
Found high on a wall under a light, and captured with some difficulty--they are very active. Length measured by photographing next to a scale. Posed. (Wow, are they smelly!)

Morphology of femora, foretarsi, indicates this is a female. (1)
