Ebo crab spider? - Ebo

Ebo crab spider? - Ebo
Antelope Island, Davis County, Utah, USA
May 7, 2009
These crab spiders with the very long second leg are new to me on Antelope Island this year. They run mainly on the ceiling and are very flat. They seem to fit the Ebo crab spider. I'm submitting a second image (different spider) to show the eyes, although the photo isn't great. They're hard to photograph, since they're so small the picture washes out with the flash.

Flash
My point-and-shoot camera doesn't have any way to adjust the intensity of the flash. Off or On. I take a couple of coffee filters and poke a hole in the center and place over the extended lense. The flash is not only reduced to avoid wash-out, but it also gives a slightly more diffused lighting.

I started with styrofoam plates, but the filters are easier to travel with.

This was probably just an inch or two away with flash on.

Thanks, John.
My little point-and-shoot doesn't have any extension to put a filter over so I would have to put it on after I turn on the camera. I could just carry the filter in my pocket, I guess. It's frustrating with these little crab spiders because I can't get a good shot with good coloring. I'll give it a try!

Uncanny.
I had an Ebo on the edge of my bathtub yesterday, and will be posting images soon. Your pics are very nice.

Thanks.
Thanks, Eric.

Yes
I think you have this one right.

Thanks, Lynette.
It's nice to get this one categorized.
