If this were an Eastern specimen, my first impression would probably be Maccaffertium. However, that genus is largely absent from the West. The single Maccaffertium species listed for Montana is terminatum terminatum, which would be a whitish imago.

My best guess is that this is probably one of the Rhithrogena species collectively known to fly fishers as the Western March Browns. Given the collection date of your male imago, R. undulata seems like a good possibility. But, keeping in mind that I'm not nearly as familiar with Western species, I think that moving it to family would be the safest thing to do.
