I took this a couple of years ago and always thought it was a bee, but it just looked odd. It took me a long time staring at it tonight to decide it was a fly.

Laphria sackeni I believe. This sp. and L. astur look essentially the same in dorsal view; they differ by sackeni having black setae on the pleurae, astur having major patches of yellow setae there. From above, this one looks more black haired in the pleural region.
