Large spider - Hogna carolinensis

Large spider - Hogna carolinensis
Picture Rocks, NW of Tucson, Pima County, Arizona, USA
May 15, 2009
Size: 26mm
We see a fewof these spiders in and around the house - they are night active and run along the walls and ceilings. They are long lived, we've followed individuals over years through molting, growing, loosing and restoring legs - but this one drowned in a tub of water on the patio. The size of 26mm referes to the body without legs.
