Range
across n Eurasia and NA (QC-WA-CA)(2)(1), likely introduced in our area (all other congeners are restricted to the Old World). Tends to be found in disturbed areas, a common characteristic of nonnative species.(3)

Larvae in cow dung &c.
Remarks
Color variable, with larger specimens tending to be paler.
