Nothing with the yellow bande

Nothing with the yellow banded color pattern is known from this area, so as I said below, I believe it is a form of Apheloria virginiensis, possibly a new subspecies restricted to the southern periphery of the generic range; it could also be a new species. The one with red margins is probably a species of the genus Brachoria, but it could also belong to the genus Sigmoria. A much closer photo of the gonopods, replacing the anterior legs on segment 7 might suffice, but it would probably be necessary to actually examine a preserved specimen. The gonopods are shown in the middle photo above, of the anterior/head end of the organism, but a much closer and higher power photo is needed. Both the Apheloria and the Brachoria/Sigmoria belong to the order Polydesmida, family Xystodesmidae. Rowland Shelley
