Bug Eggs

Bug Eggs
Appalachian Trail, Washington County, Maryland, USA
May 13, 2009
Size: Less than 1/4"
This colorful cluster was nestled on the sunny side of an old fence row. These kidney-shaped eggs were really tiny.
This photo was taken with a bellows at @ 5X-lifesize.
Does anyone have any ideas?
(..Note: a few small red nymphs were found nearby but I don't know if they're related.)
