Potter wasp nest - Eumenes bollii

Potter wasp nest - Eumenes bollii
Tucson, Pima County, Arizona, USA
May 17, 2009
Size: Marble
A finished potter wasp nest under a window ledge on an elementary school building. Truly remarkable craftsmanship. Eumenes bollii is far and away the most common species here in Tucson. The wasp inside may have perished, or else the spider was quick to enshroud the nest and vicinity in silk.
