Nice little beetle!
Margarethe, wonderful bunch of new beetles you posted today!

Thank you Maury
yes, we had the first warm nights. Before, the days were above 100F but the nights were still cool. Good for moths and Velvet Ants, but most beetles don't like it too much

Awesome beetle!
Margarethe, could you keep an eye out for any Chyphotes (Bradynobaenidae) at your black lights?

I can look out for beetles if you need any specific ones from TX.

I have no clue
so it would be very difficult to pick them out of the mass of nocturnal wasps.

No worries
Nocturnal wasps are definitely tricky. Just thought I'd ask, in case you possibly see any when collecting.

Chyphotes males can easily be separated from the other nocturnals by the large dark spots at the end of the forewings. All other families have the forewings completely clear in the USA. Also the first tergite of the abdomen does not reach the propodeum, only the first sternite is connected to the propodeum (you can really see this in lateral view).

Ok, they keep flying into my face
so I'm willing to look for big dark spots on the wings, but I don't think I'm going to check all of them laterally... As for beetles: I am looking to photograph as many Arizona spp as possible. I leave Texas to Mike Quinn.

Hehe
I know what you mean, they are definitely annoying sometimes!
