Anisomorpha buprestoide - Anisomorpha ferruginea - male - female

Anisomorpha buprestoide - Anisomorpha ferruginea - Male Female
Montgomery, Montgomery County, Texas, USA
May 24, 2009
I am pretty sure these are Anisomorpha buprestoide.

Actually looks like A. ferruginea ("Northern")
Even though so close to the Gulf I would have expected the other one.

The "Northern" species is smaller and has the head not much longer than wide, while the "Southern" has the head distinctly longer than wide and is usually about a centimeter longer as an adult. Also, the Northern usually has the dark stripes narrower and less prominent (or absent) as compared with the other one.

Moved from Anisomorpha.

Moving to genus page.
I know there is one other species, not sure how to tell the two apart. Great image!
