Ophioninae...
If you were stung, then this is a female as males do not have a short, sharp ovipositor. Even if you weren't stung, most of the time the "stinger" is not extruded, so it can be difficult to tell males and females in this genus apart. Many wasps in the subfamily Ophioninae are in this genus (Ophion), but assuming they all are would not be correct, so I would leave this at the subfamily level for now.

Female makes sense with sting. I think I got confused by the "short-tailed" aspect, thinking Ichneumon without a long tail had to be a male. Thanks for the explanation.
