Explanation of Names
From Ancient Greek ἐπίβλημα (epiblēma, "cover"); ἐπί (epi, "over, upon") + βάλλω (ballō, "throw")

Identification
"About one-third of the 40 recognized species of Epiblema in North America have a predominantly dark FW with a prominent whitish spot at the middle of the dorsal margin." (1)
