Confusing - Maybe Painted Lady? - Asterocampa celtis - female

Confusing - Maybe Painted Lady? - Asterocampa celtis - Female
Weatherford County, Texas, USA
May 27, 2009
Size: 2.5" wingspan
Initial impression was a Painted Lady, but things just don't match, especially the patterns on the trailing edge of wings. Next thought an Emperor, trailing edge match, but wing pattern does not match.

Guess this brings up a question of variations in book patterns/colors to real life.

Any help is appreciated.
Best Regards and Thanks
Les
